Why is Eel Eaten in Japan in July- especially on days called the DOYO NO USHI ?- this year on July 21st- even with the great worldwide eel shortage! ( a more comprehensive look!) » Eel at Cocos

In 2020, the Cocos family restaurant chain in offering these very reasonably priced eel sets. I tried the HITSUMABUSHI (pictured in the middle)- and found it quite delicious. If you order this dish don`t forget to pour the special broth (NOT the soup) over the eel and rice (with wasabi and sansho added as your taste suits)
