Tsuchiura Fireworks Festival 2007

As I am sure most of you already know, the Tsuchiura Fireworks Festival is happening this Saturday, October 6. (Thanks to Jermaine Howard for reminding me to publish this post!)

Date: October 6, 2007
Time: 6pm to 8:30pm
Place: Sakuragawa (river), Tsuchiura (30 minutes walk from Tsuchiura Station on the JR Joban Line)

This festival is actually a fireworks competition that has been held since 1925. Many specialists and event organizers come to the festival to see what’s new and exciting in fireworks this year. After the festival, people start placing orders for next year’s festivals.

If you haven’t seen this festival yet, or if you are not going to be here this time next year, you really should go to this festival. Highly recommended.

If the festival has to be cancelled due to bad weather, it will be rescheduled for Sunday or Monday of this weekend, or Saturday or Sunday of next weekend. (This happened last year and some people were kind enough to announce the change to the foreign community on TAIRA.)

Train Schedules (Joban Line): If you come by train, please buy a return ticket. The lines for buying tickets on the way back are insanely long.
