A Local Perspective on Life in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan.

Tsukublog, tsuku…blog, tsu..blog, tsublog…

Excite Japan launched a new service which works and looks like “Twitter” yesterday. The name of their new feature is…, Tsukublog! …NO! It’s “Tsublog!”

Excite’s Tsublog, or つぶろぐ when it’s written in Japanese, looks a lot like つくぶろぐ(TsukuBlog in Hiragana characters). I thought that “TsukuBlog” was featured in major media for a second when I saw the articles for Excite’s Tsublog…! How embarrassing!

FYI, つぶろぐ is a combination of the Japanese word for “つぶやく” (tsubuyaku/mumble) and “blog.”
