Science Day and Environment Day at Ibaraki Nature Museum
Ibaraki Nature Museum in Bando City will be celebrating World Environment Day* and will be holding various events this Sunday.
*The actual World Environment Day is June 5, Tuesday, so the museum has designated June 5 as one of its four Science Days, a.k.a., free admission days!
Science Day
When:
June 3 (Sun) from 9:30am to 5pm
Events:
Special guided tours of giant shark fossils excavated in KitaIbaraki City, and the demonstration of fossil cleaning
[10:30 to 11:30am and 2 to 3pm/ 20 people each time/ meet in front of the lecture room]
Special guided tour of their current exhibit, “The Adventure in Search of Soil Creatures!”
[10:30 to 11am, 1:30 to 2pm, 2:30 to 3pm/ 30 people each time/ meet in front of the special exhibit(exhibition hall)]
Paper making class (make paper from banana tree bark)
[11:30 to 12:30, 3 to 4pm/ 30 people each time/ seminar room A/ 整理券(seiriken or numbered tickets)will be handed out from 10:30am and 2pm in front of the seminar room]
“Backyard tour” (kind of like ‘back stage tour’) of the water system exhibits
[10 to 10:30am, 10:40 to 11am, 11:20 to 11:50am 1 to 1:30pm, 1:40 to 2:10pm, 2:20 to 2:50pm/ 10 people each time/ numbered tickets will be handed out from 9:45am and 12:45pm in the #3 The System of Nature exhibit]
Special seminar on purification of water - the current conditions of lakes in Ibaraki and what is being done by citizen’s groups to improve the quality of water
[1 to 2pm/ 50 people/ meet in front of the lecture room]
